TURMERIC DANDELION MILK

 

This healthy drink has some powerful key players in its nutritional  line-up. Dandelion is well known as a diuretic assisting the liver to rid itself of toxins more easily. It is also believed to have a positive effect on the digestive system. Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric is well known for its anti-inflammatory and healing  properties and coconut milk among other things contains lauric acid which is easily absorbed by the body and used for energy. It makes a nice cosy drink with a slightly spicy flavour and sweetness can be adjusted to suit!

INGREDIENTS

Makes: 1 full cup

  • 250 ml of coconut milk (or half quantity milk / half water)
  • 1 dandelion teabag or 1 tsp dandelion root powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 TB coconut oil
  • 1 tsp sweetener of choice (adjust to suit)

METHOD

  1. Place all milk (or if preferring half strength – 1/2 cup water) and dandelion teabag in saucepan
  2. Bring to boil and simmer for several minutes
  3. Add all other ingredients (If preferring half strength add in the half cup of coconut milk now)
  4. Stir thoroughly and simmer for a few minutes to allow all the flavours to blend together
  5. Pour into a cup/mug and enjoy a nourishing beverage!
